50 and beyond

The mundane life of an over 50-year-old blogger

Do you take supplements?

Do you take supplements?

I have been taking calcium/vit D supplement for more than 10 years. I take them because I dislike dairy products and so, I think that I do not have enough natural calcium intake.

Hubby never took supplements. He used to say that findings on studies on the effectiveness and benefits of supplements were not conclusive. He said if we eat a balanced diet, we shouldn’t need to take supplements.

Until two years ago.

Whilst engaging in group discussions with some Japanese in a monthly group conversation session I participate in, I was informed that Japanese eat natto regularly because it is not only tasty but very nutritious. I went home and told Hubby about it. He went to read up. He was quite intrigued by what he read and suggested I get us vitamin K2, particularly from natto extract. And so, he started taking one K2 softgel per night.

Thereafter, he started reading up more and more and started asking me to get him more and more supplements.

To date, two years after that initial K2 softgel, Hubby’s nightly supplements have stabilised to this stash.

Almost every night.

Would you like to guess what they comprise? I doubt you can recognise the white round ones. They all look about the same…which reminds me of the incident once where my headache didn’t go away after taking a few courses of paracetamol because I had mistaken calcium tablets for paracetamol 😂

About Me

I turned 50 last year! I used to think that 50 is middle-aged, but actually, since the life expectancy for females in Singapore is around 86, I have already lived more than half my life span.

Similar to my old blog https://hdbtaitaidotblog.wordpress.com/, this blog is a platform where I express my observations, thought and feelings about anything that interests me.

Welcome to my ordinary world.
